It’s Not About Worthy
So many times,
when we have
wandered away from God,
we choose not
to come home
to our Heavenly Father
because we don’t
feel “worthy”.
And somehow,
we think it is
our worthiness
(or lack of it)
that determines
whether or not
we can be part
of God’s family.
Don’t let Satan
convince you
“worthy”
has anything
to do with it.
When the
prodigal son
returned back
to his home
and found his father
waiting for him,
he told his father
he was
no longer worthy
to be called
his son. (Luke 15:21)
But, here’s the question:
When was the son
ever worthy
of being called
a son?
Before he
left town
and squandered
all of his
father’s money,
he wasn’t a son
because
he was worthy,
he was a son
because
he was born
into this family.
You are part
of a family
by being
born into it,
not by
being worthy.
It’s the same for you and me.
We will never
be worthy enough
to be called
sons and daughters
of God.
It is only by
being born again
that we are grafted
into God’s family.
It’s the very reason,
when Nicodemus
approached Jesus
in the dark of night,
Jesus told him this:
“I tell you the truth,
unless you are
born again,
you cannot see
the Kingdom of God.”
(John 3:3)
We have
never been,
nor will we
ever be
worthy enough.
The prodigal son
was welcomed back home,
not because
he was worthy,
but because
he was a son.
When you and I
have been
born again
into the family of God,
we are always
welcome
back home.
Not because
we are worthy,
but because
we are a son,
we are a daughter.
If you have
wandered away
from God
and you want
to come back home,
you don’t have
to be worthy.
You just have to come back home.
