When We Habitually Sin
Sin is not ok.
Sin will never be ok.
And yet,
sometimes we live
like it is.
Like it’s not
that big of a deal.
Like it’s not
that bad.
We reason that
this sin of mine
isn’t as bad
as that sin of yours
so it must not
be that bad.
We rationalize that
this sin of mine
feels right to me
and seems good to me
so it must not
be that bad.
And after awhile,
after we’ve
reasoned
and rationalized
for a bit,
we often don’t
even seem to notice
that our sin
is even sin
anymore.
We no longer
even try to hide it
or try to disguise it.
We live in it
openly and honestly.
It’s just who we are
and it’s just what we do
and it’s all good,
and it’s all ok.
Only,
it isn’t
and it’s not.
Sin will never be good.
Sin will never be ok.
And when we feel
as though it is,
we are on dangerous ground.
When we become
so accustomed to
and so comfortable with
our sin
that our conscious
is not longer
bothered by our sin,
it is a sign that
our sinfulness
is quenching the Spirit
so we don’t even
hear or feel
His conviction anymore.
And when we
no longer
feel conviction,
we no longer
feel the need
to walk away
from our sin.
We no longer
feel the desire
to confess or
to repent.
When we purposely
and willfully
choose to
stay in sin,
we are purposely
and willfully
choosing to
walk away from our God.
Because our God
is a holy God.
And He has called
you and I to holiness-
to righteous living
in and through His Spirit.
We cannot habitually sin
and stay in fellowship
with our God.
Sin has no part
in the life
of a believer.
The closer
we get to God
the further
we should be getting
away from sin.
In our humanness,
we will on occassion
still stumble and fall,
and when we do,
praise God,
we have an advocate in
and forgiveness through
Christ Jesus our Lord.
But daily sin –
the kind that moves
into your life
and stays there –
only seeks to
push God out.
There can only be
one King
on the throne of
our heart.
If sin is reigning.
we can be sure
Jesus isn’t –
not because
He’s not worthy
but because
we have chosen
sin over our Savior.
Sin only leads
to death.
And sin –
sin will never
die for you,
but Jesus did.
He gave His life
that you and I
who had been
slaves to sin
and to death
might be free
and walk
in newness of life.
Hear me, precious one.
Sin is not ok.
Sin will never be ok.
Let it go,
God’s way
is so much better.
Let it go
before
it won’t
let you go.
There is
victory in Jesus.
Cry out to Him.
Confess.
Repent and walk away.
Let Jesus set you free
because
sin is not ok.
Sin will never be ok.~
