It’s All Good
Running errands –
with the clock
breathing down my neck,
I accidentally
(or maybe not
accidentally at all),
found myself
in the wrong
left hand turn bay.
I should have
went through
one more interection.
But, I didn’t.
Here I was
waiting to
turn left.
Sigh.
Now I would have
to take extra time,
turning here
and then
meandering my way
back out to
this intersection again
just so I could
get to the one
I originally
planned to turn at.
Having driven
this very stretch
of road
many times,
I found myself
talking outloud
to myself.
“C’mon, Stac.
What are you
doing, girl?
You know you
only have
so much time
to get all these
things on your list
done today.
Pay attention.”
But,
as soon
as I heard
these words
going from
my own lips
down into my heart,
I heard His voice
even louder
speaking
deep down
into my spirit.
“You are exactly
where you need
to be for this moment.
Trust that when
you pray for Me
to guide you
and to direct your steps,
even this –
which seems to be
a careless mistake –
is in my will.”
Instantly,
His peace
washed my
frustration away.
And I knew
these words
spoken to me
as I sat
waiting for
a green turn arrow
were meant
for so much more.
It’s this way
every time
God speaks.
He takes the
every day moments
and uses them
to speak
His every day truth
deep into my heart.
And, of course,
He was 100% right.
He never is not!
If I ask Him
to direct my steps
and to lead me
in the right way,
I have to trust
that even the
“wrong turns”
are right.
Who knows
if this
“accident”
was God’s way
of sparing me
from an
actual car accident
just up the road?
God knows,
that’s who.
With God,
it’s all good
even when
we might not know
or might not understand
the why
behind it all.~

Trust in the Lord
with all your heart;
do not depend
on your own understanding.
Seek his will
in all you do,
and he will
show you
which path to take.
~Proverbs 3:5-6
