Keep Holding On
For the one
who is
wrestling with God.
It’s ok if you are.
In fact,
it is in
the very place
of wrestling
that we get
so close to God
we can almost hear
the beat of His heart.
In the
twisting
and turning
and holding on tight,
we are in
the perfect place
to come
to know our God
as never before.
Our precious
Heavenly Father
understands our struggle.
He knows our
finite minds
can’t even begin
to grasp
the infiniteness of His.
We who are
made of dust
can’t begin
to comprehend
the ways of
the Maker
of dust particles
much less
the twists and turns
of our life.
So,
we do what
comes natural
in what feel like
unnatural situations –
standing by a newly dug grave,
lying in a hospital bed,
crying tears over a wayward child,
or searching the want ads for yet another job.
God sees.
God knows.
God understands.
And,
because He does –
He only tightens
His grip on us
tighter
as we flail
with our
“I just don’t understand”
emotions.
He clings to us
as we cling to Him,
and like Jacob,
we leave
this exchange
changed.
Sometimes,
even with a limp.
But,
always blessed.
Blessed because
even in (especially in)
the wrestling,
our God stays.
