The Struggle
For the one
beyond frustrated
with yourself.
The one who feels
as though they take
one step forward
and a million steps back.
The one who wants
to please God
with your whole heart
but who keeps
hurting His heart
instead.
The struggle
to conquer self –
the toughest battle
we will ever fight.
And we will lose
every single time
we try to
fight self with self –
in our own strength,
in our own power,
in our own might.
Our victory is found in . . .
wait for it . .
surrender.
We only win
when we
finally
give up
and give in
to the Spirit.
Raising the
white flag
of surrender
and letting God
be King.
Letting The Way,
Jesus –
have His way.
There can only be one master.
Praise God,
our Master
understands
the struggle
and for times like now,
when we’ve fallen again,
He is full
of mercy,
forgiveness
and grace.
He reaches down,
picks us up,
hugs us and says,
“My child,
you are forgiven.
Go in peace
and sin no more.”
So now,
covered in grace –
it’s time
to take another step forward . . .
wait for it. . .
as more than a conqueror,
step by step
with the Spirit.
