The Author of Our Story
About a month and a half ago,
MK sent me
a couple of photos
that brought tears of joy
to my eyes
and praise of thanksgiving
pouring from my heart.
But,
in order to understand
both the joy
and the thanksgiving,
we have to go back.
Back to two days –
two days after seeing MK,
two days after my dog bite,
two days after my trip to Urgent Care,
back to April 26.
This was the opening night of the
Spring Heartprints of God Women’s Retreat.
As I stood in front of
the 28 women in attendance –
some who I knew
and some who I was just meeting
for the very first time,
I knew deep in my heart
the Author of my own story
had given me
the green light
to share with these
precious sisters in the Lord
the events of April 24.
After all,
how could someone like me –
someone who can’t talk
without using her hands –
hide the fact
that my hand was swollen
and throbbing in pain?
And so,
as God would have it,
the place of my pain
became the open door
through which
the Author of MK’s story
could place MK
on the heart
of these precious sisters
and these powerful prayer warriors.
And that is exactly
what He did.
ABUNDANCE
This is the word
God spoke to my heart
as my word of the year
for 2024.
As our first worship time
came to a close,
a precious sister
approached me,
the burden on her heart
now spoken in her
heartfelt words to me.
“I’d love to visit with MK
and I would love to pray for him.
Do you think he would
mind me reaching out to him?”
Not wanting to
overstep the bounds
of my friendship with MK
and in order to respect his privacy,
I simply invited
this precious sister
to pray for him.
Fast forward to
a month and a half ago
when MK mentioned to me
he had been invited
to attend a homechurch.
(And Yes!
You’ve probably already
jumped ahead of me
and if you did,
you are probably
100% correct
in your assumption.)
On the Sunday morning
MK attended the
small home gathering
of believers,
he sent me
two photos.
One of him
at the homechurch
(How wonderful is that!)
and one of him
standing side by side,
arm in arm,
with the dear sister
who had approached me
during the retreat
longing to reach out to MK.
(How amazing is that!)
Only God.
And it’s clear to see
and a joy to say
that God is still
writing this story.
His ABUNDANCE
so abundantly evident
in every detail.
And I have a feeling
I can do some
assuming of my own
and say . . .
if you and I
look back
over our own stories,
we, too,
will see God
is and was
and will forever be
in every detail
of every thing
that concerns you and me.
It’s who He is.
It’s what He does.
How we can both
rejoice and rest
in the fact
that the
Author of our story
never puts down His pen.
